SUD - Sustainable Urban Development


The CIUDAD project ‘Sustainable Urban Development’, with participating small towns from Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia welcomes a new partner: the Yurmala City Hall (Latvia).  This news has been announced at the regular meeting of the organizations participating in the project conducted at the end of January 2012 in the city of Ukrainka (Ukraine).  

In the frame of the project which focuses on the promotion of sustainable local development of Ukrainian, Belarusian and Georgian small towns by escalating their competitiveness with the assistance of other cities in the field of strategic planning, Yurmala is expected to share its experience on the European approach to strategic planning and implementation.

The “Sustainable Urban Development” project is an EU-funded project, implemented by the Executive Committee of Ukrainka City Council (Ukraine) in partnership with the Association of  Small Towns of Ukraine, Creative Center CCC (Ukraine), Foundation in Support of Local Democracy - Regional Center in Lublin (Poland), Yurmala City Hall (Latvia), Executive Committee of Novolukoml City Council (Belarus), and Student-Youth Council (Georgia).

Four Ukrainian cities participate in the project, namely: Olyevsk, Zhitomir region; Bobrynets, Kirovograd region; Korsun’-Shevchenkovsky, Cherkassy region; Gorodok, Khmelnytsky region. The Belarusian town of Novolukoml’ from Vitebsk region and the Georgian city of Ozurgeti, Guria region are also project participants.
