Cooperation in Urban Development and Dialogue This Project is funded by the European Union

Events

Another line of support activities will comprise a number of inter-regional events and workshops on issues and challenges of interest to all CIUDAD grant projects. These events will address the themes of decentralised cooperation, promotion of the concept of good local governance and interaction of local and regional authorities with civil society stakeholder and actors.

With the present status of preparation and programme implementation, the following thematic clusters are envisaged:

  • process-oriented themes like public participation in urban development planning, inte-grated planning tools, gender mainstreaming, ”customer” orientation of local gov-ernment/administration, etc.;
  • content-related themes like environmental, economic and social sustainability;
  • policy-related themes like legal, institutional and financial frameworks, alignment with national and/or EU policies, financing and funding sources, etc.

Further issues to be taken on by these broader networking events may emerge from the further process of grant projects' implementation, e.g. with regard to the interaction between local authorities and NGOs, the importance of political and legal framework conditions, etc.

Kick-off Meeting

	The first of these broader networking events was the general kick-off of the CIUDAD programme that was held in June 2010 in conjunction with the closing conference of the CIUDAD predecessor programme MED-PACT.
